# Duplicates and Sync

> Use a duplicated organization as a tracked sync target

Organization duplication records the same entity links and comparison state as an import. Configuration copied during duplication can therefore use sync preview and apply against its source organization without a separate adoption step.

## Continue from a Duplicate

1. Export the current configuration from the original source organization.
2. Open **Import** for the duplicated organization and load that export file.
3. Select **Preview sync**.
4. Review and apply changes using the normal [Preview and Apply Changes](/en/organization-sync/preview-apply) workflow.

Only configuration included in the original duplication selection receives these links. If matching entities were later created manually, or were not part of the duplication, the preview may report **Needs adoption**, **Create**, or **Target only** as appropriate.

Duplication does not change the sync safety rules. Target-only changes are preserved, conflicts require a decision, delete proposals are opt-in, and collected data is never synchronized.
